Client Spotlight: Brendan Doyle | The Girlfriend

Australian Champion. World Number Two. And the man with three boat names to keep track of them all.

Our story with Brendan Doyle (aka The Girlfriend) goes back to 2017. He was a spectator at a Australian V8 Superboats round in Keith who wandered into the pits and struck up a conversation while I was working on The Outlaw V8 Superboat. He told me, “I’m going to get into this sport.” Two years later, he did exactly that.

Early Steps into the Sport

In 2019, Brendan purchased a second-hand boat and hit the water. After a crash in Griffith, he contacted my brother Daniel to see if the hull could be repaired. What started as a repair ended up becoming a full rebuild from the floor up. Around that same time, Brendan reached out to JRE for a new Group A engine. That became his first full JRE engine build, debuting Lexi in 2020.

The Beginning of Pulse Race Boats

Not long after, Brendan and Daniel began discussions about a brand new hull design. That idea became the very first Pulse Race Boats hull, laying the foundations for what Pulse is today. The first Pulse JRE package launched in July 2021, nicknamed Roxy, and in the following season Brendan went on to win the 2022/2023 Group A Championship in the Australian V8 Superboats.

A World Stage Campaign

For the 2024/2025 season, Brendan shifted his focus to the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) World Series in New Zealand. He skipped most of the Australian rounds to concentrate on building a new world class Pulse JRE package. The result was Ana. After just a single water test, Ana debuted with a win in the opening round. Brendan carried the lead into the final round and finished as World Number Two.

Returning Home on Top

Brendan brought Ana back to Australia, competed in the final two rounds of the Australian V8 Superboat season, and won both, defeating the World #1 and World #3 in the process. It was a defining moment that proved just how competitive the boat was on any stage.

Looking Ahead

With Ana now prepped and ready, Brendan is locked in for the 2025/2026 season. From a casual conversation in the pit lane to a world class campaign, his journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We’re proud to continue pushing forward with Brendan and the entire Girlfriend V8 Jetsprint Team.
