Client Spotlight: Justin Roylance | The Outlaw

Two-time Australian Champion. World #3. And our longest standing JRE client.

At JRE Racing Solutions, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the biggest competitors in Jet Sprint Boats, and one name that always stands out is Justin Roylance (aka The Outlaw).

Our relationship with Justin began back in 2016 with a few conversations about building a Group A engine for the Australian V8 Superboat Series. By early 2017, that vision had become reality: a fresh Group A engine, an old Mackraft hull prepped by my brother Daniel, and final assembly completed in our JRE workshop. It was the product of countless late nights from myself, Daniel, and Justin. a true team effort.

Breaking onto the World Stage

That very boat went on to race in the 2018 Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) World Series. Justin was sitting third in the world before an unfortunate camshaft failure ended the campaign early. While the setback was disappointing, it marked only the beginning of what would become a long and successful partnership.

Building a Championship Package

In 2019, Justin imported a newer hull from JetSpeed LTD. We built it from the ground up at JRE, producing a package that went on to win the Australian V8 Superboat Championship. From that point forward, Justin established himself as a consistent front runner in the sport, delivering podiums and strong results season after season.

Overcoming Challenges, Chasing Results

By 2023, Justin had stepped into a full Pulse JRE package for the UIM World Series in New Zealand, hosted by the New Zealand Jetsprint Association. Just prior to the major event, disaster struck with a major crash. But with incredible support from Pulse, who rushed a new hull across to New Zealand, and the relentless effort of Justin’s crew, the boat was rebuilt from scratch using the original JRE engine. Against the odds, the team rallied to finish third in the world.

Back-to-Back Success

That same boat returned to Australia for the 2024/2025 season, where Justin went on to claim the Australian Group A Championship (equal with PSP Jetsprint Team). This achievement cemented him as a two-time Australian Champion and currently ranked number three in the world.

A Proud Partnership

Justin has also chosen to have JRE alongside him for the full 2025/2026 Australian V8 Superboat season with our trackside support service. For us, it’s more than a working relationship. Justin is a massive competitor in the sport, a two-time national champion, and someone we’re proud to call a mate.
